Leeds College of Building – Classroom Furniture, Enrichment Space & Café Area

Having previously collaborated with Leeds College of Building (LCB) on smaller projects, we were invited to tender for work on three key areas undergoing refurbishment: a range of classrooms, a new student Enrichment Space for downtime, and the Café area.

The furniture had to be both durable and budget-conscious. We aimed to elevate the spaces with more modern fabrics and finishes, addressing the common issue in the education sector where furniture choices are often limited to a small palette of colours and styles. We proposed more contemporary options, incorporating high-quality fabrics and finishes that would stand the test of time and daily use.

For fabrics, we recommended Agua Fabrics' Linetta Fabric and PaintPot Vinyl ranges. These materials are waterproof, anti-microbial, and stain-resistant, ensuring long-lasting durability in high-traffic environments.

For the classrooms, we supplied over 250 student chairs and more than 100 classroom tables, all delivered and installed by our own team of fitters.

The Enrichment Space was designed with distinct zones, and the fit-out was managed by Lodestone Projects, independently sourced by LCB. We also had to ensure the furniture could be easily rearranged, as the space needed to be adaptable for large exam setups.

It was a rewarding experience working alongside the college, developing mood boards, and staying aligned with budget constraints. The result is a set of versatile spaces that are not only functional but also robust enough to meet the demands of a college environment.
